It’s no secret that I am a massive fan of ethical footwear brand Veja, and why wouldn’t I be? Firstly they make some proper tidy trotters, and secondly they do so whilst staying true to their sustainable core values, a case in point being their super suave ‘SDU RT B-MESH’ runners.

To begin with the flexible upper has been crafted from the brands B Mesh fabric which is made from recycled plastic bottles. In fact 3 plastic bottles are used to create a pair of Veja trainers. This upcycling process creates a smart fabric which is both breathable and water-repellent.

Then comes the midsole which has been manufactured using Sugar cane, fancy that! This all sits atop a sole unit which has been made using natural rubber from the Amazonian forest.

The insole has been crafted from wild rubber mixed with other synthetic materials, the shoe is also lined with a recycled polyester jersey. The finishing touches have been applied with panels made out of vegan suede and TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane).

Finding the perfect medium between a truly cool aesthetic and sustainability is no mean feat, but Veja nail it every time, impressive isn’t it?
